By India Today Sports Desk: Kieron Pollard posted a cryptic message for Nicholas Pooran after his incredible knock in the final of the Major League Cricket on July 30.

Pooran made headlines recently for his absence from the West Indies squad for the One Day International (ODI) series against India. The West Indies Cricket Board announced a 15-member squad for the three-match ODI series against India, which commenced on July 27, 2023.

Surprisingly, Pooran was not included in the lineup. The reason behind this decision was that Pooran was unavailable for selection due to his commitments to the Major League Cricket (MLC) in the United States, where he was playing for the MI New York team.

Pooran was also in good form during the World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe. The left-handed batter scored a total of 296 runs, making him the second-highest scorer of the stage. This included a brisk 115 against Nepal and an unbeaten 104 before the Super Over defeat to the Netherlands.

Pooran made a remarkable impact in the MLC 2023 final. Chasing a target of 184 runs for the inaugural MLC title, Pooran delivered a stunning performance by scoring a century off just 40 balls.

The left-handed batter ended up scoring 137 runs off just 55 balls as he led the MI New York side to the title. Now, Pollard has posted a cryptic message for Pooran, who stepped to captain MI NY in his absence towards the latter stages of the tournament.

The all-rounder hailed the innings as special and said he was very proud of Pooran. Pollard told Pooran to just smile at his critics and let his bat do the talking for him.

“Special , special , special. You deserve all the accolades that come with tonight’s match. @nicholaspooran . Very proud and happy to sit back and watch you continue to excel. More to come , the behind the scene work you continue to reap the rewards . Continue to rise above. #justsmile at the egotistical individuals and let your bat do the talking. #imagine the world was almost robbed of this knock today,” said Pollard.
