Woman’s family members find her dead with stab wounds inside SE Houston home, police say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Houston police want to talk to a husband after his wife was found stabbed to death inside her home on Monday.

The Houston Police Department’s Homicide Division investigators were seen combing the 6800 block of Airport Boulevard, near Fauna Street, in the wake of the woman’s death in the city’s southeast side.

According to Assistant Chief Yasir Bashir, the victim’s workplace first called police at about 11:05 a.m. for a welfare check at her home after she didn’t show up to work.

Police arrived at the home and searched outside for any signs of unusual activity or anything that would prompt them to enter. However, Bashir said officers were unable to come up with anything and contacted the employees, who then informed the victim’s family.

Family members then arrived at the home with keys at about 2:55 p.m., entered, and found the woman unresponsive. The Houston Fire Department was called to the scene, where the woman was pronounced dead.

Police added that there was no sign of forced entry and that nothing appeared to be out of place or ransacked.

Police are talking to neighbors and family members who found the woman. They’re also looking at surveillance camera footage near the home.

Bashir added that they want to talk to additional relatives, including the victim’s husband, who was not among the family members at the scene. Police mentioned a domestic violence call coming from the address back in March, but they didn’t provide any additional details on the HPD response.

The woman was identified only as Hispanic and in her 40s.

The scene sits in an area designated by the ABC13 Neighborhood Safety Tracker to include Fairlawn, Garden Villas, Glenbrook Valley, and Santa Rosa, where 36,000 people reside.

In the last 12 months, eight homicides were reported. In 2022, 10 homicides were counted. Fourteen were tabulated in 2021.
